Nonviolent Communication Team Building at PM Group

A playful team building with anchoring for the future

In recent years, PM Group Benelux from 50 to as many as 250 employees. An impressive evolution - and at the same time a challenge. Because how do you maintain the connection with your team in a rapidly growing organisation? How do you ensure that communication, cooperation and trust move with that growth?

That is why PM Group chose a Nonviolent Communication team building, a playful communication training that went beyond theory. We organised a teambuilding for them, focusing on connecting and non-violent communication. A day full of playful methods, insights and reflection - aimed at learning concrete methods and anchoring this new way of working together sustainably in the future.

Game-based learning: learning by experiencing

The day began with powerful Game-based learning scenarios. Each game was based on recognisable communication patterns that emerged during exploratory discussions with PM Group.
The participants - engineers, architects and project managers - were challenged to cooperate, deliberate and decide under pressure. This revealed unconscious patterns in a safe, playful context.

During the reflections afterwards, the bridge was always made to the reality on the shop floor. In this way, participants discovered what helps or hinders them in cooperation - and what real non-violent communication means in their daily practice.
You can read more about this approach in our Game-based learning workshop.

Talents in the collective: understanding yourself and your team

The second part of the morning session focused on discovering everyone's unique strengths through the methodology Talents in the collective. Each participant had completed a talent measurement beforehand, which provided personal insights into motivators and energisers.

In small groups, they explored how their talents reinforce each other, where complementarity arises and where cooperation sometimes falters. This created open conversations, appreciation and new connections - exactly what non-violent communication essentially aims at: listening without judgement and speaking from understanding.

Nonviolent Communication in action

Lunch was followed by an interactive practice session around connecting communication. Participants could choose from a variety of working formats - from active listening to in-depth reflection. In a world café-setup, they exchanged experiences and practised with realistic situations from their own work environment.

Using the four-step model of non-violent communication - observing without judgement, naming feelings, recognising needs and making clear requests - taught them to discuss tensions in a constructive way.
The session made it palpable that real connecting with your team occurs when everyone is heard and seen.

Anchoring with Ecocycle Planning

To permanently embed the day's insights, participants worked with the Ecocycle Planning. This methodology helped them think together about the future: what do we want to keep, what deserves renewal, and what habits can we let go of?

The exercise brought direction, ownership and concrete actions. Afterwards, PM Group received a concise note with recommendations, so that the results of the day are not lost, but carry over effectively into the organisation.

Connection as key word

The team building at PM Group proved how powerful connecting communication is when people experience it together. The combination of play, reflection and forward-looking action created a day that was equally enjoyable as transformative was.

Connection proved to be the key word - between colleagues, between teams, and between today's growth and tomorrow's collaboration.
