Team-building with a twist: discover some unique organisations in Brussels
Sometimes the best team-building activity isn’t an activity at all, but an encounter. Brussels is full of organisations that do something special every day — in workshops, breweries, community centres and neighbourhoods you’d otherwise just walk past. During a team day, we shed a new light on them, giving your team an experience that no standard package can match. For example, we recently organised a full team day for Digitaal Vlaanderen centred around these Brussels gems, with a choice of workshops in the afternoon. A sense of wonder is the lens that changes everything.
31. Experience the Zinneke Experience: one venue, four worlds
Zinneke is one of Brussels’ most unique and community-spirited organisations: every two years, hundreds of Brussels residents spend months working together to put on a parade that rocks the city. Their home base, the Masui building (a former printing works and cultural heritage site), becomes your team’s home for a single day. Using a rotation system, you choose several sub-themes:
- Metal workshop — an introduction to welding, drilling and bending in a real workshop, with sparks flying. You’ll leave with something you’ve made with your own hands, and a new perspective on what you’re capable of.
- Body percussion — you become an instrument yourself. Clapping, stamping, using your voice: group dynamics in their purest form, because you need each other to make it work.
- Getting creative with stock — upcycling using what others consider to be rubbish. The inventor’s perspective, which starts with what’s already there; the result is always surprising and never what you expected.

32. Learn to read the city: a tour of an interior and a guided walk with Korei
You walk through it every day — but do you actually know what you’re looking at? With a professional guide from Korei you’ll learn to read a neighbourhood like a book. Take the Noordwijk: perhaps the most ambitious and most controversial part of Brussels, with buildings that dominate the skyline and stories of residents who were forced to leave. Who built this? For whom? And what does this architecture say about how we view the future? Korei turns every street into a story that stays with you — and, if you wish, combines the walk with a visit inside some hidden heritage gems. 33. Experience Brussels’ unique character at Brasserie De La Senne
Brussels once had more than a hundred breweries; after industrialisation, only one remained. Until two determined Brussels residents decided that the city deserved bitter, authentic beers. Today, Brasserie De La Senne at the Tour & Taxis site, where technology serves flavour — never the other way round. You’ll be given access to the production area and round off the visit with a guided tasting. The brewer’s perspective: patience as an ingredient, precision as the recipe, character as the end result.
34. Dare to fail during a circus taster session with Circus Zonder Handen
Circus Without Hands believes that circus arts are for everyone — regardless of age, coordination or how you feel about yourself. In this taster session, you’ll learn to juggle: balls, rings, chaos, and, by the end, something that resembles rhythm. Failure isn’t just allowed here; it’s part of the programme. You’ll see things through the eyes of a beginner who discovers that courage and laughter go hand in hand — and that your fellow participants are just as clumsy as you are.
35. Discover how to move smartly with an introductory session in Brazilian jiu-jitsu
Jiu-jitsu is the art of moving cleverly: it’s not about strength, but technique. You’ll learn how to outmanoeuvre someone who is bigger and stronger, purely through an understanding of balance and leverage. No prior knowledge is required — just a willingness to be surprised by what your body already knows, and to see the person opposite you as a partner rather than an opponent. Art Basics for Children works at the intersection of art and education, and believes that everyone has the right to a “poetic life”. That sounds grand, but at the ABC House it takes on a very concrete form: paper, wood and textile workshops, a kamishibai corner and a collection you’ll want to browse through until it gets dark.
